We ran an environmentally friendly fashion project called FASHION JUNKIE back in 2010. We worked with year 7 pupils at Chaucer BEC and got them working with a local retirement home to create some incredible fashion literally made out of rubbish! The final event was at the town hall in Sheffield and over 100 people turned up. This project was backed by Sheffield City Council, Chaucer BEC and Sheffield 50+.
Xtremeathon is a large tough guy challenge event for communities in disadvantaged areas in Sheffield. The 2010 Xtremeathon had two scrapped cars as one of the obstacles in the challenge, army netting, 100 tyres as hurdles, a rope obstacle and Sheffield Council’s Street Force donating 100 cones and barriers for the challenge. We also had Activity Sheffield supporting the event with their inflatable football pitch and outdoor portable climbing wall.
GLEE BAH BUSINESS
Is a successful business competition in Sheffield with a difference. We have been working with local companies designing theme songs with the kids from our college. We have designed Theme Songs for The Moor in Sheffield, Natwest, Begbies-Traynor, The Quadrant, Taylor-Bracewell, Sparkles Events, Sheffield College, Air Master Air-conditioning and Cupola Art Gallery!
Air Master are our current champions!
S13 DOES GLEE
Back in 2o11 The Really NEET Project worked with City School to engage young people who were having a difficult time in school in an engagement project with a difference! We literally walked the streets to convince local organisations to set up choirs. We ended up setting up a Police and Fire Choir, a youth choir and engaging a local retirement home that had an existing choir into a large event with a capacity crowd to Raise money for the incredible charity Amy House Foundation. I don’t think anyone on the event night will forget the police and fire choir’s rendition of Jonny Cash’s burning ring of fire!
