Welcome to Talent Match…so, what’s it all about? Well…It’s a Big Lottery funded scheme that aims to engage young people aged 18-24 years of age who are viewed as being furthest away from the Job Market.

Our Incredible Talent Match Coaches are; Helena Kiely, Sophia Warhurst, Katy Middleton and Rahema Begum.

Our Talent Match Coaches can work with up to 60 young people a year in the Sheffield Region who are Not in Education, Employment or Training helping them to re-engage positively with education or employment.

But how will having a Talent Match Coach help?

CONFIDENCE BUILDING: As part of your mentoring you will be encouraged to take part in an activity of your choice with your mentor. This could be anything from horse riding, kickboxing, music studio time to football. Whatever you think would be of most benefit to you hopefully helping to raise your confidence.

MATHS AND ENGLISH SUPPORT: The Talent Match Coaches can work one-on-one with you to help you to improve your Maths and English Skills. Activities can include budget planning, CV Writing, help with application forms etc.

CAREER PLANNING: If you are unsure about what you want to do in the future the Talent Match Coaches can help you to draw up an action plan to get you on track to achieving your dreams. Whether it be getting a job, an apprenticeship or getting back into education the coaches are on hand to support you.

COUNSELLING: At Really NEET we understand that you might be going through really difficult things in your life and that maybe some extra support might help you get through the tough times. As part of Talent Match, we can help you to access a counsellor that is right for you and your needs.

BARRIER BUSTING: Barrier-busting is simply your Talent Match mentor helping you to overcome any barriers that you think you have in your life to achieving your dreams. We can help you to find accommodation, whether it be shared housing or independent flats. We can also provide support around benefits, if you need support in claiming them or you have been put on a sanction we can help. We have very good links with organisation’s that give assistance with emotional wellbeing and substance misuse if you felt you needed extra support in these areas, we are here to help you to build a support network around you so that you don’t feel isolated in dealing with you issues on your own

As part of the Talent Scheme, we have created opportunities for you to receive some peer mentoring from a local company. Someone from the local company can meet with you to discuss career options and help you understand the skills you will need to work in that industry.  Through the Talent Match scheme, there are also 6 months paid work opportunities for those that feel they are ready for work.  Or we can help you to find volunteering opportunities as well.

Talent Match goes International!!!

On 7th-15th March 2015 two of our Talent Match Coaches Helena Kiely and Sophia Warhurst attended a 7-day training course hosted by K.A.N.E. Youth Centre in a place called Kalamata in Greece.

Youth workers, members, volunteers and staff of youth organisations from Croatia, Jordan, Egypt, Poland, Portugal, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Tunisia, Romania, Ireland and Greece met to exchange best practice and promote the significance of youth work and the use of non-formal learning.

The Programme was action packed and intense with the participants working together to produce presentations, deliver workshops and hold debates on many international issues.

Our Talent Match Coaches did us proud by presenting their international peers with Fish and Chip Crisps and Penguin bars at an Intercultural evening!

All participants on the course visited the KYTTARO Therapeutic Community, a truly inspiring live in facility for people suffering from drug or alcohol addiction. The Centre is an emotionally secure environment in which members can develop their abilities and learn to handle difficulties in new ways.

The coaches immensely enjoyed their time away and hope to remain in contact with all the international youth workers they met and possibly involve Really NEET in some international projects in the future…
