To help give young people the opportunity to get a second chance at education and to help them realise their true potential. Outside of work I’m passionate about spending time with my family and friends and going on adventures. I love to climb mountains and I get out in the great outdoors as often as I can, I sometimes use this as an opportunity to raise money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
My purpose within Really NEET is to make sure that our young people don’t feel alone with their problems and to provide them with a safe environment where they can come and feel at home.
After years of working in jobs that I wasn’t passionate about I decided to retrain and follow my dream of helping young people. I put myself through college in an evening for 2 years to gain extra qualifications. I worked in mainstream schools but it wasn’t for me as I felt restricted in how much I could help the young people I was working with. I then volunteered at Really NEET in Sheffield and was blown away by how compassionate the staff were and their approach to helping young people was totally refreshing. I helped set up Really NEET in Barnsley and started out as Sports Tutor. I then went on to become Project Coordinator and we now have 6 in our staff team and have doubled the size of our contract. The rest is history!
